Meercas are the only Neopets with a tail many times larger than their body. Meercas come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes ranging from the Disco Meerca to the cute little Baby Meerca. Meercas come in 36 different colors and are featured in 101 different merchandise items. Meerca Day is celebrated in Neopia on August 18 every year.

The Meerca Brothers are a bunch of Meercas who often indulge in reckless acts. While their actions do not cause any harm to anyone, their recklessness has caused some Neopians to be concerned. The two brothers, Heermeedjet and Merouladen, are accused of several high-profile crimes. Because of their ability to escape the net of law-enforcers, they have now achieved a reputation of being Neopia's top burglars.

Chuffer Bob is a Meerca who loves to play Cheat! However, those who know Chuffer can easily recognize the signs when he is cheating. Fanetti is one of the Meercas who plays in the Altador Cup. He is a goalkeeper for Haunted Woods. His speed and diving abilities make him one of the best goalkeepers in Neopia.

Meerca owners can play the game, Meerca Chase II. In this game, users have to race around the screen collecting Neggs of different colors. The newest version of this game boasts of superior graphics and user controls.
