Neopet players who share similar interests can join up and create guilds. Each guild usually has a concept of the group such as battling in Battledome, animal lovers, real-word celebrity maniac. Many guilds have specific goals such as helping new players, adopting abandoned Neopets, etc. Guild members usually leave messages to each other on a message board. Some messages can only be accessed by only the member. The member of the guilds usually receive some benefits for being in the guilds such as tips, activities, presents from other member such as newbie packs ( inexpensive items as a welcome presents to the new member.) . Some guilds are private. You will need to get an invitation to be a member.  Different guilds will have different prerequisite to join. The leader of the guild can pick four members to be a Council. The council has the power to change the layout of the guild, delete messages, create poll. Many big guild have a sub-council to help out the work in the guild. People who became a council are usually an ambitious guild members. Many guilds also have other websites to share messages and information.
