Dogs use biting as a way of communicating. Many times, dogs will only snap to show their displeasure. Since biting is natural, you need to teach your dog to control his biting behavior.

Problems happen because dogs can bite the wrong things at the wrong time. Be cautious when introducing something new to your dog. Notice any signs that he is restless or uncomfortable. Remove him from the place if this happens.

Dogs often bite out of fear. This fear can be removed by socializing your dog when he is young. Unsocialized dogs can feel anxious around strangers and bite. Teach your dog simple commands so he knows when you want him to stop. Play simple games like fetch with your dog to tone down his aggression.

Do not leave small children around a pet. Teach children not to pet the dogs on their own. Dogs can take petting to be a hostile action and bite.

Cats are also capable of being unpredictable. Most cats get along fine with people. This also depends on how well you have socialized your cat. Cats can be very vocal when they want attention or food. If they feel neglected, they can show aggression or react noisily.

If you bring a new animal to the home, do not let your old pet feel neglected. This will prevent any jealousy towards the new pet. It is also important to prevent any feelings of insecurity. Be especially careful if you have a cat, since cats need a lot of attention.
